Remember the days of old,
Consider the years of many generations.
Ask your father, and he will show you,
Your elders, and they will tell you.

What This Site Is About

This site is devoted to the compilation and display of genealogical data on the various parts of my family. The kernels of the two sides of my family originated respectively in the Dorohoi district of Romania (maternal) and in Lomza Gubernia of Russian Poland (paternal). Names frequent in the generation of immigration to the US and UK at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, and subsequently from Europe to Israel after WWII, are:

Poland

  • Nejman/Najman
  • Neachowicz/Noachowicz
  • Lawski/Lavsky
  • Ismach
Romania
  • Abramovici
  • Grisaru
  • Hertanu
  • Lauer
  • Vataru
There are lots of other names; I invite you to look over the tree, and see if you or anyone you know may fit into it. If you think so, please get in touch with me through whatever means is most convenient for you (see addresses below).

You can find the platform-specific Java software that you need for viewing the tree on the Downloads page. If you do not wish to upgrade your system to Java capability, but you do have a GEDCOM-capable genealogical program, you can download my GEDCOM database, and view it on your own program. Click to download clan.zip, or ismach.zip, or hertzman.zip. Each of these includes, in addition to the respective GEDCOM file, also a smaller auxiliary file used by the applet, which you can discard if you are not using GenealogyJ.
